Designing multicultural education module as a learning supplement of thematic learning for 4th grade elementary school

This research aims to describe the design of a multicultural education module based on tolerance character which is integrated to integrative thematic learning of 4thgrade elementary school. Multicultural education module that have been developed is considered to be an appropriate media to improve teachers and students’s understanding about multicultural education as well as internalize the character of tolerance. Data collection technique are interview, observation, and literature study. The final result of this research is a multicultural education module with the title of "Ayo Saling Menghargai" (Let's Respect Each Other). The specificity of the module is the 5 story characters that represents some tribes, ethnics, and religions in Indonesia. Any reading material, material, worksheet, and evaluation always relates to local cultural values as a reflection of multicultural education.
