Outdoor learning influence towards numerical and science concept in plant theme in lettuce sub theme for TK A Student in Islamic Kindergarten School, Rungkut-Surabaya

Abstract

Early Childhood Education is a pre-school education. It is held to develop all aspects needed by children at early ages, which are: religion, moral, physical motor skill, cognitive skill, language, and social-emotional skill. There are many different outdoor learning methods, one of which is playing method, by which children will explore, manipulate, and interact with environment. By applying this method children are hoped to recognize natural phenomena that occur in their life. This study aims to find out outdoor learning impact on TK A students of islamic kindergarten school, Rungkut-Surabaya in term of numerical concept and science concept using lettuce plant as a medium. This study is an experimental research which is applied to determine whether or not there is an effect of a treatment introduced to research sample. Target population in this research is TK A students of islamic kindergarten school, Rungkut-Surabaya as many as 60 children. Data analysis technique used in this research is normality test and homogeneity test. The results of this study indicate that (1) Outdoor learning affects the numerical concept of TK A students of islamic kindergarten school, Rungkut-Surabaya (2) Outdoor learning using lettuce plant as medium affects the science concept of grade TK A students of islamic kindergarten school, Rungkut-Surabaya (3) Outdoor learning by growing lettuce affects the numerical and science concept of TK A students of islamic kindergarten school, Rungkut-Surabaya.
