Gamification: a literature review

Currently, Indonesia is facing quite a challenging problem in terms of poor teacher qualification to present innovation in their teaching to create motivating learning. For this reason, educators should know the components of learning and how effective teaching could be done in the classroom. One of the methods that has proved successful and which increases student motivation to learn and improves academic performance is gamification. Gamification is not merely using games in classroom activities, rather it is applying game elements to the context of academic learning. In this literature study, it is found that the learning components is actually related to gamification theory, specifically in Octalysis Gamification. When teacher follows the steps gamify the concepts in his or her subject matter, it is actually able to be used in Indonesia’s Education context.
