Developing Edutainment-Based Supplement Book for Grade IV Students of Elementary School

The minimum number of supplement book oriented to edutainment in social science subject at elementary school, especially at grade IV, is the background of this research. The aim of this study is to generate appropriate edutainment-based supplement book. The appropriateness can be observed according to the suitable indicators, practicality, and effectiveness level. Besides, the study also aims to improve learning motivation and understanding of the fourth graders of elementary school. Research and development model of Borg and Gall is used in this research. The results showed that: 1) the developed supplement book is valid; 2) the dominant activity of the students is focusing on the teacher’s explanation; 3) the effectiveness of the supplement books brings positive responses to the learning process, good category in terms of teacher’s responses as well as through anacova test. Based on the anacova data analysis, it can be concluded that edutainment-based supplement book is valid, practical, and effective in improving learning motivation and understanding of grade IV elementary school with significance level of 0.00 and 0.19, respectively.
