Fine Arts Curriculum 2013 and Implementation in School

The Curriculum 2013 implies that national education is expected to create all Indonesian citizens to grow into human beings and proactiveley respond to ever changing challenges. The curriculum is one of the strategic components to realize the process of developing the potential of learners and teacher become the important actor. This research is done based on the phenomenon of learning of fine arts in schools. Focus of the research problem includes (1) attitudes and responses, (2) knowledge and understanding, and (3) teacher competency to translate the Arts Curriculum. This study used a qualitative approach with observation, interview, and document as data collection. The results showed (1) the teachers accepted and stated that the arts curriculum can empower and enhance the activity, creativity, and independence of children and (2) need to improve the academic and professional competence of teachers. Therefore, it is recommended to reconstruct model of in-service teacher education.
